Luke Jacobs has won the Super Strong Style 16 2024 tournament in Progress Wrestling.

The hard-hitting Englishman outlast 15 other top talents, including AEW and TNA stars, to take home the prestigious prize. He earned himself a title shot at Kid Lykos at a later date, battling to become Progress World Champion for the first time.

SSS16 is a single elimination tournament that is run yearly by Progress. It sees 16 wrestlers competing over four rounds, with a wrestler being eliminated with every defeat.

The winner of the tournament becomes the new number one contender for the Progress World Championship, and has drawn similarities to NJPW’s New Japan Cup.

It was a hard-fought victory for Luke Jacobs. On the first night of the show, he defeated Mike D in 10 minutes to advance to the quarter-finals. He wrestled three times on the second night, taking some huge scalps en route to a historic win.

Jacobs beat Kid Lykos II in the quarter-finals, before knocking Welsh legend Eddie Dennis to reach the SSS16 final for the first time. Here, he defeated Ricky Knight Jr, who defeated Man Like Dereiss in the semis, to take home to trophy and a shot at the title.

After Luke Jacobs won the tournament. Kid Lykos challenged him to his title match. The Progress World Champion made it official, and the pair will face off at Progress Chapter 169, “The Devil on my Shoulder” on July 28th. This will take place at The Electric Ballroom, where the SSS16 tournament took place.
