World of Sport Wrestling is returning later this year.

In a press release, World of Sport announced that they will be holding new tapings for the cancelled show on September 14th this year.

Titled WOS: The Return, the show will feature returning stars from the ITV show, including former WOS Heavyweight Champion Grado, Sha Samuels, Adam Maxted, Martin Kirby, Alpha Male Iestyn Rees and Ashton Smith.

They help make up an impressive World of Sport roster of wrestlers, including former champions, American star and even a reality TV star.

However, the show will not be shown on ITV. The company cancelled the show back in 2018, and seemingly have no interest in continuing with showing wrestling. Instead, it will be shown exclusively on social media channels, and the World of Sport Wrestling website.

They wrote, “WOS has produced brand new original programming to support WOS: The Return which will be exclusively released on WOS social media channels, including the newly re-launched woswrestling.co.uk and Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Youtube and X.”

While this will be disappointing, hopefully the show can find a new home on a channel that gives them more time to find their groove. The ITV series was disappointing, and was not what any wrestling fans wanted from a mainstream British wrestling show.

Grado talked about the relaunch, saying “I am delighted WOS: The Return is happening. WOS last toured in 2019 with packed shows across the country and I am excited to get back out there showcasing the best performers this country has to offer under the WOS banner. Professional wrestling is booming around the world and British Wrestling needs a proper presentation with WOS.”

Tickets for the TV taping are already on sale, so get your tickets for Epic Studios in Norwich now!

The return of World of Sport in 2016 was the reason WWE decide to start their NXT UK brand. This was the biggest factor in the death of BritWres in 2020, alongside a few other key ingredients.

Note: This is an entirely seperate program to the classic wrestling on ITV’s “World of Sport” programme, which was cancelled in 1988.
