Zak Knight: I Was Talking To AEW Before Saraya Joined The Company

Zak Knight says that he was set to join AEW before his sister Saraya joined the promotion.

The Englishman joined the company later last year, first appearing in ROH before joining his sister in AEW. The pair feuded with Ruby Soho and Angelo Parker, although that rivalry was cut short when Soho announced she was pregnant.

The two family members stuck together during Knight’s run in AEW. He accompanied Saraya, along with the rest of her family, to the ring for AEW All In 2024, although he hasn’t wrestled for the company since June 2024.

Zak Knight explains why he’s been absent from AEW TV in this article.

While his career in the US seems to have been tied to Saraya, that wasn’t always the case. In conversation with Croumulent Wrestling, Zack Knight revealed that he was in talks to sign with AEW almost a year before Saraya signed with the company.

He explained how he has been trying to go out on his own for years, changing his name to “Zak Zodiak” to move away from his family name.

“People that have seen my journey understand just how hard I’ve worked—how I transformed my body, mind, and soul. I branched away from the family; I became Zack Zodiac to change the family name.”

“I was actually in talks with AEW about 10 months before my sister signed there, but I’ve never made that public until now. I’m telling the world now: I was talking to AEW well before then. That’s why I was getting my own visa, which took well over a year and cost thousands of pounds.”

“There was no one betting on me apart from myself. So it’s nice to know that people feel like they’ve been part of my journey—because I wanted to take everyone along with me. If one succeeds, we all succeed. That’s always been my philosophy and my mentality.”

However, This Is At Odds With A Story Zak Knight Told In The Past

Saying that, Zak Knight claimed the opposite happened during a chat with the Grue Rume Show last year (H/T to Post Wrestling). While he still said that he was in talks with the promotion, his claim that he paid for his own visa before she came in was false.

Zak Knight claimed here that Saraya helped pay for his visa and only got the role in AEW on her suggestion.

“So, here’s the story that is definitely gonna rattle some fans, right? So before my sister got to AEW, myself, a middleman and Christopher Daniels were all talking about Zak Zodiac coming to AEW. This was a year before my sister got there. It was pushed back. ‘Has he got a visa? Can he do this? No, he hasn’t got a visa but he can get a visa.”

“If you guys are interested, he’s willing to get a visa,’ etcetera. We were speaking for a good five, six months and then it was like, okay, we need to just hold fire. I then found out that they were chatting to my sister and she might, might be going there because offered by two big companies, WWE and AEW. She’s having to make this big decision and I’m speaking to her and I’m like, ‘If you need to go back, go back but I’ve been talking to these guys.”

“If you go there, then that might help my foot in the door.’ So, she ends up going to AEW and for everyone that needs to know this out there, yeah, she did say, ‘Give my brother that shot. I know you’ve been talking to him. He’s got his visa now.’ She helped pay for my visa. She believed in me that much that she was like, ‘Hey bro, I’m gonna buy you a visa, I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna do that. You could pay me back in good time but I know that when they see you, they will love you. You’ve just never been given the opportunity.’”

So. who knows what to believe? One of those stories is a lie, but which one? Let us know your thoughts!
