It was MJF’s idea to have his match with Michael Oku at RevPro Summer Sizzler 2024.

The AEW International Champion beat the Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion in a fantastic match on the weekend. It saw interference from Luke Jacobs, as well as Will Ospreay’s first appearance in the UK since joining AEW.

While MJF has often talked badly about appearing in other promotions, the RevPro owner has revealed that it was MJF’s idea to do the match with Michael Oku.

Andy Quildan recently spoke with Voices of Wrestling.

He was asked about how the MJF vs Michael Oku match came about, revealing it was the AEW star who reached out to him.

“MJF out-of-the-blue contacted us and said, ‘I want to wrestle Michael Oku.’ When something like that comes to me, it’s my obligation, as not just a promoter but as a wrestling fan, to move heaven and earth to make sure that can happen.”

Andy Quildan probably thought asking MJF to appear for RevPro was an impossible ask. His appearance is the biggest thing for the company since Will Ospreay left to join AEW full-time.

With MJF holding a win over the Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion, there is a good chance he could return to RevPro to challenge for the belt at some point in the future.
