Saraya had an interesting reaction when her private videos were leaked.
In March 2017, the English wrestler had one of the worst days of her life. A series of images and videos were leaked from former partner Brad Maddox’s iCloud account.
These included personal photos and videos they had taken together. Some of these involved the pair having sex, with WWE star Xavier Woods also partaking in certain clips.
This was a horrendous thing to happen. It deeply affected Saraya (who was then called Paige)’s mental health, and she considered suicide after having the leaks.
Saraya spoke in an interview with Chris Van Vliet about the leaked videos, and her reaction when finding out.
She revealed that she hid in a bush in Walmart after the news came out. She also claimed she was 19, which is untrue (Saraya was 25 when her videos were leaked).
“It was an awful time in my life. I said to myself, I was like in a bush outside of Walmart right when these videos came out. I ran out of my house and I just started running. I don’t know why I was running, but I was running, and I got to Walmart and then hid in a bush.”
“I don’t know why, but I just felt so humiliated that I was out there on the internet for people to see. No one was ever supposed to see those, you know? I was 19, and I just remember being so low at that point.”
Saraya Wouldn’t Be Here Without Her Dad
Saraya called her dad as soon as she found out about the leaks. She claimed that if her didn’t accept her after her privacy was invaded, then she was contemplating suicide.
Luckily, he and her brothers were very accepting, and did not blame her at all. This helped Saraya to deal with the leaks, and eventually improved her mental and physical health.
“I said to myself, if my dad doesn’t accept me in this, my dad’s opinion of me matters so much. You know, I probably wouldn’t be here today, that’s how bad it was. I remember calling him, and I was absolutely heartbroken. I was like, ‘I’m so sorry,’ and he straight away was like, ‘I don’t care,’ and I was just like, ‘What?'”
“He was like, ‘I don’t care.’ He was like, ‘Look at Kim Kardashian.’ I was like, ‘Dad,’ and he was just like, ‘No, everyone does what you’ve done. You’re just in the spotlight. So you had sex, if they’re mad about it, they’re probably virgins or they can’t pull a decent bird.’ He was just like, ‘Who cares?'”
“So, I called my brothers after that, and I was like, ‘I’m so sorry,’ and they said the same thing. My family was just like, ‘We don’t care about that stuff. We just want to be there for you.’ After that, I just remember feeling like a lot of weight coming off my shoulders.”
Sadly, Saraya injured her neck later that year and was forced to retire. It ended a horrendous year for the British star, one which was a struggle for her to recover from.
