This was but one match in the storied rivalry between two of the top British wrestlers of the 21st century. Will Ospreay‘s match with Marty Scurll was a sight to behold, and looked to be a vision of the future in the wrestling world.
Despite the controversy surrounding Marty Scurll in the years following, this match may make from an awkward watch now, but at the time looked like a sneak peek to a future WrestleMania main event.
4. Will Ospreay vs Zack Sabre Jr – RevPro High Stakes 2020
There are endless matches between these two British legends that could make this – or any – best matches list. However, their clash at RevPro High Stakes 2020 is one of the best bouts the British wrestling fans have seen in RevPro.
Building on their previous matches, they went all out. The technical wrestling was out of this world, as was Ospreay’s high-flying ability. They had counters for their opponents counters to counters.
While their clashes in NJPW, most notably as Royal Question 2023, are rated more highly by some, this is still one of the best matches in RevPro history.

2. AJ Styles vs Will Ospreay – RevPro High Stakes 2015
The second best match in RevPro history was a long time coming, and had a very special meaning for one of the competitors.
Will Ospreay was inspired to wrestle by AJ Styles. While surfing the TV channels, he came across a reply of the epic triple threat from Unbreakable 2005. This inspired him to become a wrestler, so this match was a full circle moment for the English.
As you can imagine, it was magical. Ospreay flew around the ring like nobody had ever seen before. Meanwhile, this was arguably AJ Styles at his peak, following his exit from TNA and joining NJPW.

1. Michael Oku vs Will Ospreay – RevPro High Stakes 2024

The pair battled for 47 incredible minutes over the Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship, with Ospreay looking to regain the belt he lost to Ricky Knight Jr just two years prior.
The bout was billed as Ospreay’s final match in the British independent scene, and he went out with a bang.
Tapping out to Oku’s half-crab submission move to end his time in the UK was a fitting end, and he made a new star on the indie scene on his way out. It is not just the best match in RevPro history, but also one of Will Ospreay’s best matches.
It earned a six-star rating from Dave Meltzer, helping Will Ospreay earn the most five-star matches in wrestling history.
