Tate Mayfairs says he is going to wrestle again for AEW, as well as against Will Ospreay.

The 25-year-old English is currently one half of the Riot Cabaret Tag Team Champion, alongside James Ellis. He made his debut for AEW in June this year, losing to Daniel Garcia on an episode of AEW Collision.

While he lost the match, Tate Mayfairs is confident on getting back to AEW and getting his win back against Garcia.

Tate Mayfairs appeared on The Soul Sessions, discussing his AEW debut against Daniel Garcia. He revealed that he plans to return to AEW, and that it was the company that contacted him about coming in to wrestle for them this year.

However, he did blame his jet-lag on the loss to Garcia. He is determined to return to AEW, as well as to win the AEW Championship at some point in the future.

“I will wrestle again for AEW. I will wrestle with Ospreay again, whether in AEW or elsewhere. I will win another major world championship to add alongside my own. These are all things that are going to happen in the near future. But I think it’s a little disrespectful for you to insinuate that I would be reaching out and begging for something.

The truth is, AEW contacted me. When I was in the UK before I had the visa, they said, ‘Yo, when you get a visa and come to the US, give us a shout and let us know.’ When I was in the US, they spoke with me and said, ‘If you can get here for this show, we would love to have you.’ So I said, ‘Cool, I can do that,’ and the next thing you know, it’s me versus Daniel Garcia on Collision.

They’re fully aware of my greatness. Although it didn’t go my way—like I said, I was very jet-lagged—I think Daniel Garcia kind of took advantage of that a little bit. It wasn’t very sportsmanlike of him.”

Tate Mayfairs Was Inspired By Nigel McGuinness

Tate Mayfairs continued, and discussed how Nigel McGuinness has helped his career. The legend sung Mayfairs’ praises on his AEW debut, and the Englishman revealed how he helped him when the pair worked together in NXT UK.

As for Nigel McGuinness, we’ve known each other for a little while now—about a year, I guess. In that time, I’ve seen and spoken with him a bunch. He gets it. Maybe he sees a little bit of himself in me, or a little bit of me in himself—I don’t know, a couple of British bad boys.”

“We first met at WWE NXT, where he liked my stuff. We spoke there, and he gave me some feedback on how to get more out of it. I’ve always looked up to and been inspired by the work he’s done throughout wrestling. So, yeah, I guess he was happy for me and wanted to tell the world how great I am—because he’s not stupid.”
