Marty Jones doesn’t think he’s had his last match yet.

The English wrestling legend is one of the most iconic wrestlers from the days of World of Sport.

He was a technical wizard, a wrestler beloved by both fans and wrestlers alike. Marty Jones is noted as being part of William Regal‘s favourite ever match, as well as training the WWE legend as a youngster.

The 69-year-old hasn’t wrestled since 2003, but doesn’t consider himself to be retired. Marty Jones appeared on the Wrestling With Johners Podcast, where he revealed that he still have five more matches left in his career.

Considering his age, I doubt that to be true. But if it keeps him going, then I hope to see Marty Jones in the ring again in the UK one day.

“It actually started about five years ago.” Marty Jones said, when asked about when he started his training school. “I live in a town called Wrighton, which is in Oldham, just outside Manchester. I’ve lived in this area for a long, long time.”

By then, my days in the professional wrestling world were coming to an end, even though I’ve never officially retired. I still have it in my head that I’m going to do five more matches before I retire—absolutely.”

Marty Jones’ Last Match Was In 2003

While he may think he has five matches left in him, Marty Jones hasn’t competed in a match for over 20 years.

According to Cagematch, Marty Jones came back from a two-year retirement in 2003 to compete in two tag team matches.

The legend wrestled for All Star Wrestling in December that year, teaming with Kid Cool, and then Spidermask. He last ever match saw Marty Jones and Spidermask wrestle Julio Torres & NY Street Fighter in Colston Hall in Bristol.

Marty Jones and Spidermask won the match, although that is all that is known of the bout. There is no footage, nor written reports of the event exist. All we know is that Marty Jones won his last match, although he still has five more before retirement.
