Zack Sabre Jr is prepared for the G1 Climax in three weeks time.
The Englishman picked up his first pay per view victory in AEW history at Forbidden Door. He forced Orange Cassidy to tap out to a convoluted hold, becoming one of just a few men to hold a PPV win over the former International champion.
He has always been a huge fan of Orange Cassidy, but his focus has now shifted squarely back to his home promotion – New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Zack Sabre Jr spoke at the AEW Forbidden Door 2024 post-show media scrum, and was asked about what his future plans were, championship title wise.
The English grappler revealed that he is focussing on the G1 Climax this summer. His goal is to become the top wrestler in NJPW, winning the tournament and going on to become IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
“Not to disregard AEW, but for me, this i the beginning of my summer, and we have the G1 Climax in three weeks. It’s the most important tournament in all of pro wrestling. It has the biggest history and the continuity of quality.”
“My objective is not just to reach the top of New Japan as a foreigner, but reach the top. My motivation and responsibility is to carry New Japan into the future.”
