WWE looks set to host a PLE in Italy, bringing a first-time-ever show.

Recent reports claim that the company is set to bring a Premier Live Event to Italy for the first time. PWXNews reported exclusively on Twitter that WWE are planning to run an Italian show in 2025.

For years, the WWE has only taken the UK for its biggest events. Pay Per Views like Summerslam 1992 and Clash at the Castle were some of the company’s biggest ever shows, although mainland Europe was heavily slighted by their exclusion.

Following the successes of shows in France (Backlash) and Germany (Bash in Berlin), an Italian show seems a no-brainer. It will be third ever PLE in mainland Europe, servicing a country which has grown to love professional wrestling.

The last time the WWE broadcast an event from Italy was an episode of Raw in 2007. This event is famous for being the debut of Santino Marella. He came out of the crowd as a fan to defeat Umaga for the Intercontinental Championship in Rome.

A potential show in Italy would be huge. If they host it in the country’s capital city of Rome, then a similar thing to the British PPV could be chosen. Instead of “Clash at the Castle”, the Italian WWE event could be titled “Clash at the Colosseum”.

The ancient Rome theme could be a big hit, with announcers dressing up like they did at WrestleMania IX. It would also give Giovanni Vinci the opportunity to wrestle in his home country.

Giovanni Vinci vs Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship would be an incredible main event for the Italian PLE, and one fans around Europe would love to come and see.

It’s not just WWE who have their eyes set on Italy. The NWA recently had their world title defended in the country, with EC3 retaining his belt against one of Italy’s top stars.
