Marty Scurll may be a pariah in British wrestling for various reasons now, but he has the distinction of being the first and only RevPro star to have an action figure made of their likeness.

He has done more than most in the business. The aptly named “Villain” was a star in the UK and in the US and Japan, and seemed to have the world at his feet.

Even ITV’s Take Me Out were even graced by his presence. Marty Scurll appeared on an episode alongside Paddy McGuinness, even drafting in Jimmy Havoc to appear alongside him back in 2012.

However, his crowning glory has to be back in 2016, when Marty Scurll became the first British wrestler to have a figure made for him while still being an indie wrestler in the UK.

RevPro Made A Marty Scurll Action Figure

Back in 2016, Marty Scurll made history. He became the first and only ever wrestler in British wrestling to have an action figure made for them.

It was made in China and licensed by RevPro, who were pushing Scurll as a top star during 2016 when the action figure was released.

The toy has movement at the elbows, legs and knees but has no articulation in the head or arms, which is disappointing. It doesn’t look like the best quality figure but nobody can deny the significance of its release.

Now, we must note that he is not the first British wrestler to have toys made in their likeness. William Regal will have had hundreds made for him by WWE’s partners over the years, while the likes of Will Ospreay, Drew McIntyre and Wade Barrett also have seen themselves cast in plastic over time.

However, Marty Scurll’s figure was different. He wasn’t an English star with a WWE figure. No, his was a RevPro-branded figure made by a European wrestling promotion.

According to RevPro themselves, this is the first time such a feat was ever achieved. This is a huge achievement on behalf of the company and of Marty Scurll, despite his later transgressions.

On the product page for the action figure, RevPro wrote:

“Own a part of history with the first-ever action figure produced by a European wrestling promotion. Professionally manufactured, boxed, fully movable, 7-inch toy.” They wrote in the product description.

Now, onto the figure. Compared to the toys made by Jakks and Mattel for companies like WWE and AEW, it is not great. It looks more like the rubber knockoffs that you’d find in Home Bargains.

The face is okay but the figure looks about ten years older than the wrestler it was based on. The body is sculpted well, however, and it wouldn’t look completely out of place next to your other WWE figures.

The packaging the Marty Scurll action figure comes in leaves a lot to be desired. It again looks like a cheap Poundland knockoff and would not be encouraging anybody to pick up the toy if they saw it on the shelf.

If you really feel like it you can buy one now from the RevPro website. It’s only £15, so its relatively cheap to pick up a slice of history.

The downside is that it will be putting some money in Marty Scurll’s pocket, which is something most people will not want to do after Speaking Out.
