PROGRESS Wrestling Announces Luke Jacobs vs Michael Oku for the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship at Chapter 179: PROGRESS, Las Vegas

LONDON, UK – 26 February 2025 – PROGRESS Wrestling is set for the world’s fight capital with Chapter 179: PROGRESS, Las Vegas. The main event will see the reigning, dominant PROGRESS Men’s World Champion Luke Jacobs defend his title against Michael Oku in what promises to be an historic encounter.

Jacobs has been nothing short of unstoppable, cementing himself as one of the most dominant champions in PROGRESS history. With 10 successful title defences across two continents and three countries, he has proven time and time again that he is the standard-bearer of PROGRESS Wrestling.

His most recent defence was a barbaric No Disqualification war against Tate Mayfairs, a match that left both men battered but saw Jacobs emerge victorious, title still in hand.

But now, Jacobs faces a different kind of challenge, one he knows all too well. Michael Oku is no stranger to Luke Jacobs. The two have clashed numerous times in other promotions, each battle pushing them to their limits.

With Oku making his highly anticipated return to PROGRESS Wrestling after a five-year absence with a win over Mark Haskins at Unboxing, the self-proclaimed “Master of the Half Crab” is looking to prove what he has proven time an time again over the past five years – he is champion material.

This will be his first PROGRESS Men’s World Championship match since a losing effort to Eddie Dennis back in 2019. Can he go one better on Thursday, April 17th as part of The Collective?

Jacobs remains unfazed. In his own words, the champion has made it clear: “He comes swanning back in like he’s a big shot. You wanna play? Let’s play in Vegas. Me and you for this title.””

Will Michael Oku’s return mark the beginning of a new era, or will Luke Jacobs continue his reign of dominance in Sin City? Fans can expect nothing less than an all-out war when these two competitors collide at Chapter 179: PROGRESS, Las Vegas in what many are already calling a potential weekend stealer!

Tickets for Chapter 179 are on sale now.

Nina Samuels To Defend Her PROGRESS Wrestling Women’s World Championship Against Rhio in Las Vegas

The feud ignited at Unboxing, when Nina Samuels shocked fans by launching a surprise assault on Rhio, leaving her battered and seizing the PROGRESS Women’s World Championship in a ruthless display of cunning.

Her aggression escalated further at Chapter 177, where Rayne Leverkusen earned the title of #1 contender—a moment that was stolen within seconds. Before Leverkusen could even celebrate, Samuels blindsided her and secured a quick, opportunistic pinfall, effectively denying her a championship opportunity. The locker room was left stunned, while Rhio’s determination to take back what was hers only grew stronger.

Adding to the drama, Samuels attempted to hijack Rhio’s moment with wrestling legend Meiko Satomura later that night. But the tables turned when Satomura landed a brutal forearm, knocking the champion out of the ring and declaring that PROGRESS needed less Nina Samuels. The legend then turned to Rhio with a powerful message: Win back your championship.

Following Samuels’ refusal to accept Kanji’s challenge for a title match, PROGRESS management found itself without a #1 contender. Taking decisive action, officials determined that Rhio’s rightful rematch would take centre stage in Las Vegas.

Now, the stage is set. Chapter 179 will be the battleground where Rhio seeks redemption and aims to reclaim the PROGRESS Women’s World Championship.

Can Nina Samuels continue her controversial reign, or will Rhio finally reclaim her title and bring an end to Nina’s underhanded tactics?
