Leon Cage explains how he invented the “Stomp to the Future” wrestling move and how the clip of him went viral.

The 17-year-old from Wales went viral earlier this year when a clip of him attracted millions of views on YouTube. The video showed him hanging an opponent over the ropes and hitting them with a double foot stomp.

As he landed the stomp the momentum threw his opponent into the air and Leon Cage caught him in a powerbomb. it was an incredible move and something that nobody had ever seen before. It became massive online and the Young Bucks even began performing their own version of the move.

Leon Cage recently sat down with Fightful to talk about how he invented the move. He revealed that he just had the idea one day and hit it first time in training, much to his shock and delight.

When he finally hit it during a wrestling match the clip went viral on TikTok. It quickly gained millions of views on all social media platforms, with both Mark Andrews and Will Ospreay promoting Leon Cage on their Twitter accounts.

“Crazy. I literally went to training one day, early. When I go early, I like to mess around a bit, see what I can do. On the way up, I thought, I’ve got an idea for this move. I can put them on the rope, give them a stomp to the back, and as they come off, I’ll just powerbomb them. It was as simple as that.

So we tried it, and it worked straight away. It just happened. It literally happened perfectly the first time. I thought, Wow, okay, I wasn’t expecting that. I kept it in the back pocket. I even filmed it, went back into training, and I’m laughing because it actually does work.

We were at a show. Last minute, they were like, Jump on. Obviously, we do it. I thought nothing of it. We came back and thought, That went really smoothly—I hit the move really well. Then the boy I did the move on, Tommy Vrill, put it up on TikTok. Within an hour, it had a ridiculous amount of views. He was texting me, saying, You have to put it up.

At first, I didn’t want to because the quality of the footage was so bad. I was like, I can’t put this up. But I did, and instantly, it starts blowing up. My phone starts going crazy. Then Mark Andrews put it on Twitter, and it blew up big time. It changed everything.”
