Say his name and he appears! Joe Hendry has quickly become one of the most popular men in wrestling.

The Scottish wrestler came to the sport quite late. He only became a wrestler at the age of 25, but quickly found an aptitude for both the competitive and theatrical nature of professional wrestling.

He was trained in Scotland with Source Wrestling School in Glasgow. Despite not wrestling outside his school yet, Joe Hendry wrestled for the WWE in a behind-the-scenes match. He didn’t get signed after the try-out, and continued his journey towards superstardom.

With his powerhouse style in the ring mixed with his penchant for comedy, as well as Joe Hendry’s amateur wrestling background, the Scot has been compared with WWE legend Kurt Angle.

In fact, he even wrestled the Olympic gold medalist in WCPW in 2016. Hendry helped build the YouTuber-ran promotion, and was a key part of it getting up-and-running. His involvement helped bring new eyes on the brand, as well as exposing his talents to a wider audience than he was used to.

Prior to WCPW, Hendry wrestled for ICW. They are the biggest promotion in Scotland, and provided a fine platform for the young star. However, with stars like Drew McIntyre and Grado also involved, he found limited time in the main event scene. He made the most of the time he had, with his parody music videos creating hilarity all over Scotland.

Joe Hendry’s music took him higher than he ever expected. It attracted the interest of TNA, who signed him following a short stint in ROH before the pandemic. He instantly became a big hit in TNA, but it was his music that became an even bigger it.

This wasn’t just with wrestling fans. His entrance theme, titled “I Believe In Joe Hendry” reached number four in the top forty in the UK. This was a huge accomplishment for the Scot, and a testament to his growing popularity in American’s fourth-largest wrestling promotion.

His TNA appearances promoted the WWE to come calling. Hendry was called up to NXT, where he received huge pops from a crowd that never expected to see a TNA star in an NXT ring. Fans sang along with his theme song on Joe Hendry’s debut, despite this being the first time he’d appeared for the WWE.

The 36-year-old Joe Hendry continues to impress. He continued to break down barriers and push himself further and further towards his dream. With WWE interested in signing him after his TNA contract ends, Joe Hendry has the future ahead of him, and with the belief of the fans willing him on, he can go right to the very top.
