Former PROGRESS Wrestling boss Jim Smallman has found a new job in the WWE, just weeks after leaving his old role.

The Englishman has worked for the company for the past six years, having joined as part of creative in NXT UK after leaving PROGRESS.

Smallman progressed to a role as a senior writer for NXT, spending nearly five years in the US before returning home to England at the beginning of 2025.

This isn’t the end of his time with the WWE, however, as he has found a new role under the WWE umbrella as they continue to expand their operations overseas.

In a post on LinkedIn, Jim Smallman revealed he has started a new role as an International Talent Scout in the WWE.

He revealed that he has loved his six years of working in the WWE, although he had to leave his role in the past due to issues with leaving his family in the UK while moving to the United States.

With this new role, he can stay in England and support his family. Smallman can also use his talents to find new wrestlers to scout for the WWE, something he did fantastically when growing PROGRESS Wrestling in the 2010s.

“Delighted to share that I’m starting a new position as International Talent Scout at WWE!” Jim Smallman wrote.

“Have loved my six years of working for WWE so far, and it’s wonderful that I can now combine being back in the UK for my family with still contributing to the business that I adore so much.”

“With every WWE show playing on Netflix here in Europe, it’s a very exciting time for wrestling on this continent so I am very much looking forward to seeing what the future holds.” he added.

In his updated bio, Jim Smallman revealed he’s moved back to the UK after three years in the US, following his decision to leave his role in NXT.

This move could see some top UK talents like Michael Oku and Luke Jacobs being scouted to the WWE in the near future. Any rumours of that happening and more will be reported on by us, here at BritWrestling.
