Ireland Could Have Their First WWE PLE In 2025

With the UK having their pick of UK PLE’s in recent years, Ireland is long overdue for their first major WWE event.

With talk of a WrestleMania in London, Great Britain is clearly one of the top wrestling destinations in the world. The WWE are keen to keep coming back, while expanding to mainland Europe with events in France, Germany and Italy.

However, with all the different countries getting chances to welcome the WWE, Ireland must feel a bit left out. The Emerald Isle has never had a broadcast WWE show in their entire history, which seems like a mental fact.

Yet, it is true.

Ireland has been limited to house shows. They haven’t had an episode of Raw or Smackdown taped in Ireland, let along a PLE (PPV) event.

They came close in 2020. WWE announced that their NXT UK brand would have one of their Takeover events in Dublin. However, NXT UK Takeover Ireland was cancelled due to the pandemic, and WWE haven’t gone back to that well since.

However, that could all change in 2025.

There has never been a time when the WWE has so many Irish wrestlers in starring roles. There are three Irish former world champions currently on the roster, and a fourth who appears regularly on Monday Night Raw.

Finn Balor and JD McDonagh appear together as part of the Judgement Day. They have been arguably the top faction in the company for some time, involved in some of the most interesting storylines.

Meanwhile, Becky Lynch is arguably the greatest female wrestler of all time. The Limerick-born grappler was the first woman to main event WrestleMania, blowing down the doors for women wrestlers everywhere.

Meanwhile, Sheamus is at the end of his career, yet arguably at the peak of his powers. He was the first Irish WWE Champion, and would love nothing more than to complete the WWE Grand Slam by winning the Intercontinental Championship in Dublin.

It’s not as if Ireland is not a country that loves wrestling. They have the record for the highest attended non-televised show outside of America, when 22,000 fans saw a Smackdown house show in 2005.

They have the fans. Likewise, they have the wrestlers, and Ireland has the arenas to host the WWE. It seems a no-brainer for WWE to finally have their first ever PLE in Ireland in 2025.

2025 should be the year that WWE brings their first PLE to Ireland. Clash at the Castle 2025 would be the ideal situation, although the company could opt for a more Irish-centric name for their first televised show.

WWE Irish PLE Name Ideas

If the WWE don’t want to go with “Clash at the Castle” again, there are a number of more appropriate names they could go for when naming their first ever Irish PLE.

  • Emerald Clash – taking inspriation from their nickname of “the Emerald Isle”.
  • Celtic Showdown – referencing their roots as a Celtic nation.
  • Dublin Dominance – this does require to be held in Ireland’s capital city.
  • Clash at Croke Park – if they want to fill Ireland’s biggest stadium, this would be a fitting name for the event.
  • Gaelic Glory – this references the local language of Ireland.
