The first match for RevPro Epic Encounters 2025 has been announced, with two top stars from Europe and Mexico battling it out in a dream match.
The show was recently announced to be taking place on March 16th in Wolverhampton, with fans expecting a fantastic card full of great action and big stars.
Well, they got all that in just the first match announced!
On Twitter, RevPro revealed that the first match booked for Epic Encounters 2025 was Zozaya vs Hechicero. The Spanish star, who recently beat Leon Slater in a fantastic 60-minute Iron Man match at Uprising 2024, has been on a role in RevPro for a while now, regularly putting on the best matches on the card.
“SUNDAY MARCH 16TH EPIC ENCOUNTER live from The Hangar, Wolverhampton ZOZAYA VS HECHICERO Tickets on sale Wednesday @ 7pm” RevPro wrote on Twitter.
He has earned a spot against Hechicero, a true international star and one of the best technical wrestlers in the world. The Mexican wrestler has made appearances in promotions like NJPW and AEW in the last few years, becoming incredibly popular outside of his home country for the first time.
Hechicero has competed in RevPro before. At RevPro’s 12th Anniversary show last year, he battled Zack Sabre Jr in a true technical classic that resembled a chess match more than a wrestling match.
While he lost to the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Hechicero left with countless new fans and an open invitation back to the promotion. He’s taken that invitation but will have to face Zozaya as a consequence.
I’ve no doubt that this will be the best match of the night unless something big like a Will Ospreay match is announced (which I doubt will be). Zozaya is on an incredible run in RevPro right now and should be among the many, many challengers for Michael Oku’s Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship.
He should win this match, but make no mistake about it – it is the fans who get to see this classic who will be the real winners!
