Nigel McGuinness has named a match you probably haven’t seen as one of the best of his career.

There are few better lists than Nigel McGuinness’ best matches. Clashes with top stars like Seth Rollins, Bryan Danielson and Kurt Angle put him among the best wrestlers in the world.

His return at AEW All In 2024 was a long time coming for the UK crowd. He got a standing ovation from all 50,000 fans as Nigel McGuinness made a shock return in the Casino Gauntlet match.

The Englishman teased bouts with Zack Sabre Jr, Christian Cage and Kazuchika Okada, which had the crowd on their feet. However, it was a match from the UK in 2007 that he named one of his best matches.

After his return at All In, fans were quick to take to social media to express their love for Nigel McGuinness. One user called Jennie mentioned they saw him face Darren Burridge in 2007 at 1PW Second Anniversary show, calling it “one of my favourite matches ever”.

“I was lucky enough to see @McGuinnessNigel wrestle @GregBurridge1 in the UK in 2007, it’s always been one of my favourite matches I’ve ever seen. I cannot tell you how loud I screamed when he came out last night, pretty sure I deafened everyone around me.”

Nigel McGuinness replied to the Tweet. In a short statement, he said that the match with his fellow Brit was “one of my best matches too…”, putting it alongside his bouts with Bryan Danielson from Ring of Honor.
