It has been more than three months since Leon Cage suffered an injury that derailed the biggest year of his career so far.

The Welsh wrestler is arguably the biggest prospect in British wrestling, taking the scene by storm at just 18 years old.

Leon Cage gained initial fame for his Stomp to the Future finishing move, which was co-opted by the Young Bucks in the months following in AEW.

Regular appearances all over the UK, showcasing his incredible high-flying moveset in promotions like RevPro, cemented Cage as a top young talent who seemed destined for greatness.

However, his momentum ground to a halt in 2025 after an injury put him on the shelf for a long time.

Leon Cage suffered a devestating ankle injury in his RevPro match with Chris Ridgeway

In May 2025, Cage wrestled his last match before a devastating injury put him out of action for months.

The 18-year-old battled Chris Ridgeway at RevPro Live in Sheffield earlier this year, in the third match of their long-running feud.

Both men had a win apiece, with Cage winning the rubber match in an exciting two-out-of-three falls match 2-1 after 18 minutes.

However, that bout put an end to his incredible run over the months previous, as Cage suffered an ankle injury that put him out of action for the forseeable future.

While it seemed like a bad landing must’ve caused it, it is unclear when exactly the injury occurred, but we know that is was very serious for the young star.

He underwent surgery and will be out for an undetermined amount of time

Cage has not wrestled since May 25, 2025 when he beat Ridgeway in that best two-out-of-three falls match in Sheffield.

That is because the ankle injury was so severe, the Welshman was forced to go under the knife in order to recover.

He revealed on Instagram that he underwent surgery six weeks after the initial injury. Cage posted a photo of himself smiling while propped up in a hospital bed, after a successful leg operation.

In the accompanying caption, Cage sadly revealed he would be out “for a little while” but didn’t reveal exaftly when he’d be back in the ring.

“Unfortunately, I have suffered an injury that means I’ll be out for a little while.” Leon Cage said.

“Just a thank you to everyone, every company, every training session and every single person that has come and seen me in 2025 so far.

“This has been the best year of my life so far undoubtedly and I have been so lucky for everything that has happened to me.

“In life there are many ups and downs and this is the biggest mountain that has been put infront of me yet but I will get over the hurdle and be better than I ever was.” he added.

When Leon Cage returns, he is sure to be pushed as one of the top stars in RevPro going forward.
