Tyler Bate celebrates becoming the first WWE UK Champion.

Tyler Bate may not have had the chance to hit it much recently, but his finisher is one of the most impressive in WWE today.

The English star is closing in on a decade in the WWE, with next year marking the tenth year since he was announced as part of the United Kingdom Tournament.

Tyler Bate went on to win that tournament, hitting his finisher on his long-time friend and rival Pete Dunne to become the first-ever United Kingdom Champion in WWE history.

The Big Strong Boy also had an incredible bout with Gunther at NXT Takeover Cardiff, which made his name in the WWE almost overnight.

His career has somewhat stalled since moving up to the main roster, and many fans will have forgotten all about Bate’s incredible finishing moves and signature attacks.

Well, do not worry, as we’ll cover them all here in this article!

The reason Tyler Bate named his finisher will make you feel old

Since he began wrestling in 2012, Bate has mainly used a piledriver/powerbomb move as his finishing move, to great effect.

This is the Tyler Driver ’97, which is a safer version of the Tiger Driver ’91, the super-finisher popularised by the legendary Mitsuharu Musawa in the 1990s in AJPW and NOAH.

Bate makes the move much less dangerous, rotating the impact into a flat-back bump, as opposed to dropping his opponent on their head like Misawa, and later, Will Ospreay, did.

The reason Bate named this move the Tyler Driver ’97 may make you feel old. While Misawa named the move for the year it was first used, Bate chose the year he was born.

Yes, Bate was born the same year that the Montreal Screwjob happened. The fact that a WWE Superstar wasn’t alive to see Austin’s fued with Bret Hart is a shocking fact!

The move has helped Bate win numerous titles, including the WWE United Kingdom and NXT Tag Team titles.

However, he has more moves which have been used to beat his opponents over the years.

Tyler Bate has also used some other signature moves in WWE

The Tyler Driver ’97 is not the only finisher Bate has used in his WWE career so far.

He has also employed the Airplane Bomb, where he spins his opponent above his head before slamming them to the mat with a crash.

Additionally, he has on occasion hit the incredible-looking Spiral Tap move, innovated by AJ Styles in TNA, although that has been a much less frequent match-ender.

Saying that, there haven’t been much finishers coming from Bate in recent years.

He’s been in and out of the roster since being called up from NXT, and doesn’t look like one of Triple H’s favorites anymore.
